Book Nook – Girl in Pieces- by Kathleen Glasgow

Title:  Girl In Pieces

Author: Kathleen Glasgow

Publisher:  Delacorte Press

Warning. If you are sensitive to self harm and drug abuse, I wouldn’t read this book, because it could be triggering.

Are you more of a dark contemporary fan? If so, I think you would like the book “Girl In Pieces”. This novel is about a 17 year old girl, who has been, and continues to go through, a lot of difficult times in her life. She suffers from a lot of past trauma and self harm issues. I don’t want to give to much away, because going into the book “blind” is the best.

The author, Kathleen Glasgow, based this book off of some of her own life experiences, but she later stated that she did give the main character her own story, and did a superb job of doing so.

Kerry, via Goodreads, has reviewed the book as follows: This was such an emotional reading experience for me that I struggle to describe it well. The writing is like nothing I have ever read–so piercing and beautiful and brutal and raw and true–that it truly has to be experienced first hand. There were passages that were so stunning, so shockingly brilliant that it quite literally took my breath away. The story itself is made of the darkest dark and the brightest glimmers of hope and the ever uncertainty of which side will win out. The main character XXXXXXX is complex and tough and yet so vulnerable and deeply wounded that the reader aches for her to find peace and love and a world that is safer than the one she has known. The secondary characters are fully formed and realistic; the dialogue pitch perfect. Overall an intense, gritty, gorgeous read.”
I absolutely adored this book. It was amazing. This book really knows how to pull on you emotions, and it does it in a good way. I love how all the characters are so relatable. I feel like no words will give this book justice to how truly stunning and perfect it is.  10/10. Would recommend. Gold star!
