Last weekend, over 500 middle level students from across Indiana participated in Drum Corps International’s INpact Band.  Brianna Bailey, Nico Barton, Jackson Bougher, and William Kingston were chosen to represent Lincoln Junior High. Audrie Burton, Sarah Collier, Lydia Haines, and Makayla Wilson represented Plymouth High School.  Former Lincoln student Izzy Fuentes participated as well.  These students prepared their music over the summer in preparation for the performance in Indianapolis’s Lucas Oil Stadium.  During their stay, students shadowed a drum corps, learned from professionals on their instrument, and observed world class performances.  The INpact Band played Born This Way and Chameleon to an audience of over 23,000 people to kick off the DCI Finals Competition.

Guard member Lydia Haines stated, “Because everyone learned their part ahead of time, we got to learn advanced skills.” Saxophone player Audrie Burton added, “This was the best, most amazing weekend of my life.”  Other highlights included William playing a jazz solo section with “The Late Show” trumpeter, Al Chez, in a solo section in Chameleon.
